Hilton Garden Inn and the Hampton Inn are two of Bangor, Maine’s more recent hotel projects in the Bangor Mall area. The 124 room, 17 suite, five story Hilton Garden Inn opened in 2008 and has over 4,000 square feet of conference space plus two board room type meeting spaces. The Hampton Inn, having opened in 2012, is a three story 110 room hotel located in close proximity to the Hilton Garden Inn. The hotels provided different design challenges for Plymouth Engineering’s staff. The Hilton Garden Inn was a design/build project involving the Franchise owner self-performing as the general contractor with Hilton corporate oversight. While the Franchise owner self-performed as a general contractor for The Hampton Inn, complete architectural, structural, civil, and mechanical engineering services were required by Hilton Hotels and reviewed by Hilton corporate.
The successful design and construction of the two hotels led to the Hilton Garden Inn being voted as the top Hilton Garden Inn in 2012.
We became acquainted with Plymouth Engineering in 2001 when the Town of Brooks was looking to “rehab” a run down, late 1800’s farmhouse and turn it into the town office. The house is right in the center of town and we wanted to keep this wonderful old building. Scott and Keith could not have been more helpful in making our vision come true. We have been told by many that Brooks “has the most beautiful town office in Maine.” Scott has helped us with roads grants, and more recently, helped us build a salt/sand shed working with Maine DOT and DEP. We sincerely appreciate all of Plymouth Engineering’s excellent work on our projects in Brooks! -– Jane McGlaughlin, Town of Brooks, Maine.
